![]() ![]() Heck there’s even a little bonus thing you can find that pertains to certain events of the story, and for some reason it reminded me of Super Mario Bros 3. The interesting part about everything that I actually really enjoyed is that after you beat the story, you get a little level that lets you fly around as a drone, so you get to take in the sights of Donut County. I only ever struggled at one part, but even then I figured it out in a minute, and the next part was just trying to get it all figured out. Mostly because the solution is either shown to you, or really obvious. There are a few puzzles in the game though and all of these are actually pretty simple to figure out. No game overs, no level restarts, no nothing. There was literally no way to fail in the gameplay. If something is too big, that just means you have to swallow other things first. From benches, to cars, to people, yes I did say people, and even houses! It is as satisfying as ever, and had me smiling the whole time considering it’s just a chill and relaxing time with no real stress at all. ![]() As you do, you start growing in size, until eventually you’re able to devour everything in your path. You play as a little hole in the ground, and you slowly start to swallow up the environment. When it comes to the gameplay, it’s all very simple. Usually I hate stuff like this, but the gameplay loop was just so fun, I just sort of let it bypass me as an issue, because I was laughing most of the time. The story centers more around how everyone ended up in the hole, so you have a lot of “well this is how it happened”, before you find yourself seeing current day events. Especially considering one of the main characters, BK, was a Raccoon and he was insistent that he did nothing wrong. It was silly, it was well written, and it made me laugh. ![]() So many holes later, and the town is now sucked into the bottom of a pit and now the question is, how do they get out? Until of course the local Raccoon who runs the donut shop mentions that it’s all because of a delivery app made by the company to get donuts around town easier. When mysterious holes start popping up all over Donut County and start making things disappear, no one seems to know why. It was then published by Annapurna Interactive and released to PC and Consoles in July 2018. Donut County is a silly game about destroying a town, and it was developed by indie developer Ben Esposito. ![]()
